Beyond the Cloud: Finding Clarity in the Unknown

You’re not happy—not sad—not anything. Why do you feel this way? You can’t even name or label the emotion. It's hard to face what you're feeling when you don’t even know what that something is.

For me, it felt like a black cloud hanging over my head. I finally decided to take a good, hard look into that cloud to see what was really inside. That meant more than just knowing it was there—I had to look into it, examine it, and understand what it was made of.

To do that, I had to get honest with myself. I peered into the cloud and saw that the dark, heavy energy was filled with doubt and fear. But why? After sitting with that question, the answer became clear: I was afraid of the unknown, and I was doubting whether I had what it took to move my business forward.

That brought up another question: What makes you think you can’t do it?

I realized I had been focusing so much on what I didn’t know, that I lost sight of everything I do know. I let distractions pull me away from my goals, and in doing so, I fed the doubt. I kept looping the same thoughts—thoughts that weren’t helping me move forward. All that got me was more frustration… with myself.

The sun always shines when you look past the clouds that are hiding it

So I started shifting my focus—choosing to move forward despite the doubt and fear. I knew I had to take physical action—something real and tangible. And I knew I had to let go of the fear, or I’d still be stuck tomorrow… and the next day… and the next.

I have a say in how my life plays out. So this time, when I looked at the cloud above me, I imagined it breaking apart, dissolving into nothing. I pictured the sun shining through and my new thoughts—I am doing this—rising up and breaking through the darkness.

Now I feel the sunlight on my face.

Doubt and fear will always come and go. But when we face them directly, we begin to realize they’re just energy—energy that can be shifted simply by changing our thoughts.
